MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
A. COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
i. Faculties of Basic Clinical Sciences as well as Clinical Sciences: Applicants must possess an MBBS, which should be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). They must have Fellowship of Postgraduate Medical Colleges in relevant Clinical Sciences subject. A Ph.D. in a related discipline will be an added advantage.
ii. Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences: For Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology, applicants must possess MBBS or BDS, which should be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) with a Ph.D. or a minimum of M.Sc. in the relevant subject area.
For Public Health, candidates must have a Ph.D. in relevant areas of the discipline.
For Health Information Management, applicants must be registered with the Board and also have a M.Sc. or Ph.D. as may be commensurate with the post applied for.
Required university teaching and research experience shall be:
For positions in the Clinical Sciences:
Professor: Minimum of nine (9) years post-fellowship.
Reader/Associate Professor: Minimum of six (6) years post-fellowship.
Senior Lecturer: Minimum of six (3) years.
Lecturer I: Relevant postgraduate Fellowship; prior teaching and research experience will be an advantage.
B. FOR OTHER FACULTIES
(i.) Professor
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and at least twelve (12) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or other tertiary research-oriented institution. They must have substantial publications in reputable local and international journals, evidence of postgraduate supervision, capacity to initiate and develop research, and evidence of academic leadership and administrative experience. Candidates must normally have served as Readers/Associate Professors for at least three (3) years. Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable, is compulsory.
(ii.) Reader (Associate Professor)
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and at least ten (10) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or other tertiary institution. They must have substantial publications in reputable local and international journals, evidence of postgraduate supervision, capacity to initiate and develop research, academic leadership and administrative experience. Candidates must normally have served as Senior Lecturers for at least three (3) years. Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable, is compulsory.
(iii.) Senior Lecturer
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and at least five (5) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or other tertiary research-oriented institution. They must demonstrate a substantial record of high-quality scholarly publications, originality and contribution to knowledge in a focused area of research. Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable, is compulsory.
(iv.) Lecturer I
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with at least three (3) years’ post-qualification teaching and research experience and evidence of scholarly publications of good academic quality. Holders of a good master’s degree who have formally registered for a Ph.D., show satisfactory progress and possess substantial publications and teaching experience may also be considered. Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable, is compulsory.
For Senior Lecturer and Lecturer I in Histopathology: Applicants must possess Ph.D. in Medical Laboratory Science with publications in peer-review journals.
(v.) Lecturer II
Candidates must possess a good first degree and a master’s degree in the relevant discipline from recognised universities. He/she must be registered for a Ph.D. in the relevant field with satisfactory progress. Evidence of teaching and research potential, scholarly publications and membership of the appropriate professional body, where applicable, will be added advantages. Computer literacy is compulsory. For Histopathology, applicants must possess M.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Science.
(vi.) Librarian II
Candidates applying for this position are expected to possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class (Upper Division) from a reputable University and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with at least 3 years post qualification experience in a relevant academic Library. Candidates must be eligible for Ph.D. Candidates for Law Library must possess either LL.B, with at least a Diploma in Library Studies/Library and Information Science or Master of Library and Information Science with at least a Diploma in Law. Work experience in a Law Library will be an added advantage.
(vii.) Assistant Librarian
Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Library and Information Science from a recognised university. Competence in information and communication technology, and relevant library experience will be added advantages.
NON-TEACHING POSITIONS
1. Deputy Registrar
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree plus at least fifteen (15) years’ post-qualification experience, eight (8) of which must be in the administration of higher education OR a master’s degree plus at least twelve (12) years’ relevant post-qualification experience.
2. Deputy Bursar
Candidates must possess a good bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a recognised university and be a professionally qualified member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). Applicants must have at least ten (10) years’ relevant post-qualification experience, including substantial experience in university financial administration, and must have attained the rank of Chief Accountant or its equivalent. A relevant postgraduate degree and proficiency in contemporary accounting software will be added advantages.
3. Chief Internal Auditor
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting from a recognised institution and be a professionally qualified member of ICAN, ANAN, ACCA or an equivalent recognised body. Applicants must have at least twelve (12) years’ relevant post-qualification experience, including a minimum of five (5) years in a senior internal-audit position, preferably in a university or comparable institution. A relevant master’s degree and proficiency in accounting and audit software will be added advantages.
4. Senior Assistant Registrar
A good Honours degree with at least Second Class (Upper Division) from a recognized university plus a minimum of nine (9) years cognate experience in a university or an institution of comparable status. Computer literacy is compulsory.
5. Senior Academic Planning Officer
Candidates must possess a good honours degree and a relevant master’s degree, with at least six (6) years’ post-qualification experience in academic planning, institutional research or university administration.
6. Academic Planning Officer I
Candidates must possess the qualifications specified for Academic Planning Officer II, with at least three (3) years’ relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in a university or comparable tertiary institution. A relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
7. Academic Planning Officer II
Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Educational Management, Computer Science or a related discipline from a recognised university. Applicants must demonstrate competence in data analysis, institutional research, academic programme administration and the use of relevant computer applications.
8. Senior Accountant I
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with five (5) years post-qualification experience and be a chartered accountant. Master’s degree plus membership of ACA, ACCA, ACMA or their equivalent is an added advantage.
9. Accountant I
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with three (3) years post-qualification experience OR a bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus Master’s degree/membership of ACA, ACCA, ACMA or their equivalent.
10. Accountant II
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. A master’s degree/membership of ACA, ACCA, ACMA or their equivalent will be an advantage.
11. Administrative Officer II
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class (Upper Division) in Humanities, Social Sciences or Law. Membership of the University’s alumni will be an added advantage.
12. Corporate Affairs Officer II
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication, Communication and Media Studies, English, Public Relations or another relevant
Arts or Humanities discipline. Membership of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and relevant communications experience will be added advantages.
13. Graphic Artist II
Candidates must possess a good Honours degree or Higher National Diploma, with at least Second Class (Upper Division) or Lower Credit, in Graphic Design, Fine and Applied Arts, Visual Communication, Multimedia Design or a related discipline from a recognised institution. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard design software, typography, layout, branding, photo editing and the preparation of artwork for print and digital platforms. Experience in photography, motion graphics, video editing, social media content production or a corporate communications environment will be an added advantage.
14. Auditor II
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Membership of the University’s alumni will be an added advantage.
15. Guidance Counsellor/Counselling Psychologist
Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology or a related discipline. Membership of a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
16. Hall Supervisor
Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Cognate post-qualification experience will be an added advantage.
17. Porters
Candidate must possess a minimum of O level results. Cognate post-qualification experience will be an added advantage.
18. Confidential Secretary
Candidate must possess Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Office Management and Technology with evidence of Word processing skills and at least two years relevant experience in a reputable organization.
19. Basketball Coach — Full-Time
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or HND in Physical and Health Education, Sports Science or a related discipline from a recognised institution, together with a recognised basketball coaching certificate. Applicants must have at least three (3) years’ relevant coaching experience, preferably in a tertiary institution or recognised sports organisation.
20. Football and Volleyball Coach — Part-Time
Candidates must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or HND in Physical and Health Education, Sports Science or a related discipline, with recognised coaching certification in both football and volleyball. Applicants must have at least three (3) years’ relevant coaching experience, preferably in a tertiary institution or recognised sports organisation.
21. Medical Officer (Full-Time)
Candidates must possess an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised university, be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), and hold a valid annual practising licence. Applicants must have completed the mandatory housemanship and National Youth Service Corps programme or possess an exemption certificate. Relevant post-registration clinical experience will be an added advantage.
22. Nursing Officer
Candidate must possess a minimum of RN or a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) from a recognized institution plus full registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and a valid practising licence.
23. Medical Laboratory Instructor
Candidate must possess a B.MLS/AMLSCN in (i.) Histopathology (ii.) Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science (iii) Medical Microbiology and Parasitology
24. Clinical Instructor (Nursing Science)
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) degree and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife. Applicants must hold a valid NMCN practising licence and have at least three (3) years’ post-registration clinical experience in a recognised health institution. Experience in clinical teaching and student supervision will be an added advantage.
25. Health Record Officer
Candidate must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Health and Information Management from recognized institutions. Registration with the Health Records Officers’ Registration Board of Nigeria will be an added advantage.
26. Prosector
Candidates must possess a B.Sc. in Human Anatomy from a recognised university, with at least five (5) years’ relevant experience in cadaveric dissection, embalming, specimen preparation and the management of an anatomy laboratory. A master’s degree in Anatomy and experience in a medical college will be added advantages.
27. Mortician
Candidates must possess at least a National Diploma in Health Technology, Mortuary Science or a related discipline, together with recognised training in embalming and mortuary practice. Applicants must have at least five (5) years’ relevant experience in the preservation, storage, documentation and dignified handling of human remains. Experience in a teaching hospital or medical college will be an added advantage.
28. Chief Laboratory Technologist (Histology and Human Physiology)
Applicants must possess a B.Sc. or HND in Science Laboratory Technology, with specialisation or demonstrable experience in Histology, from a recognised institution. Applicants must be registered with the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) and possess a current practising licence. A minimum of twelve (12) years’ relevant post-qualification experience is required, preferably in a university, medical college or teaching hospital.
29. Technologists
(i.) Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (with at least Upper Credit) in the following disciplines: Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Physiotherapy, Health Information Management, Anatomy (Prosector), Biomedical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Auto & Mechatronics, Geology, Physics, Computer Science and ICT (Network Service, Application, Info Security and Technical Support).
(ii.) Laboratory Technologists in the Basic Clinical Sciences Laboratories: Candidates with Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) qualifications (B Tech or M Tech degrees) are required in the following departments: (i) Chemical Pathology (ii) Anatomical Pathology (iii) Haematology & Blood Transfusion (iv) Medical Microbiology & Parasitology (v) Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. In Anatomical Pathology, candidates with BMLS Histopathology would be needed.
30. Medical Laboratory Technician
Candidate must possess: (i) Medical Laboratory Technician Certificate in (a) Histopathology

(ii) Must be registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
31. Pharmacy Technician
Candidates must possess Pharmacy Technician Certificate from the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria with at least two years relevant experience.

SALARIES AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Salaries, allowances and other benefits, including the contributory pension scheme, are as approved by the Governing Council of Achievers University, and are favourably compared with what obtains in other public and private universities.
