Achievers Varsity Admits New Set into Work-Study Scholarship Programme

The Pro-chancellor and Chairman of Council, Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Hon. Dr. Bode Ayirinde, has urged the second set of beneficiaries of the University’s Work-Study Scholarship Programme to exhibit high moral and academic standard expected of students and alumni of the University.

He said this recently at the 2024 Bond-Signing Ceremony held to officially admit six beneficiaries of the programme held in the Council Chamber of the University. “High level performance is expected of you”, he said.

According to the Pro-chancellor, the scholarship is for two years for master’s and a total of five years for master and doctorate concurrently. However, the beneficiary, who must hold a minimum of Second Class Upper degree, is bonded to work for the University for the same number of years it took to complete the programme. Meanwhile, the beneficiary will be earning his or her appropriate salary and promotion as and when due while undergoing the programme.

Professor Omolola Irinoye, Vice-Chancellor, thanked the Chairman of Council for his support and commitment to the programme. She implored the beneficiaries to work hard and seize the opportunity provided by the University Council to expand themselves.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oyesoji Aremu, also speaking at the event, commended the Council for fostering town and gown relationship through the scholarship. While encouraging the beneficiaries to always publish their research and proceed for their doctorates after the master’s, he congratulated the parents for the award given their wards. “All eyes are on you; you must do something extra,” he said.

Professor Joseph Fayeye, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), congratulated the parents for supporting their children’s participation in the programme. For doing this, he said, “You are making Achievers University greater; look forward to them attaining greater heights in future”

Olawale Olatunji, who spoke on behalf of the parents of the beneficiaries, and Professor Olabisi Oduwole, Head of Department (HOD), Medical Laboratory Science, thanked the Council and Management for their support for the programme.
