Achievers University hosted the accreditation team from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for the reaccreditation of its Accounting programme on Monday, 12th May, 2025. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Omolola Irinoye, led the University Management in receiving the team. She expressed gratitude to the Institute for its continued efforts in strengthening accounting education in Nigeria. She commended the team leader, Professor Taiwo Asaolu, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, for his sustained support for the professional body in pursuit of quality and excellence.
Speaking further, the Vice-Chancellor affirmed that the University would not compromise its quality standards and would always maximize opportunities to improve its service delivery to the students. “We value the input of professional bodies like ICAN. Our goal is to ensure that our Accounting programme remains a beacon of excellence,” she noted.
Earlier, Professor Asaolu had congratulated the management of the University on the commendable milestones achieved by students in various professional fields such as nursing, law amongst others and assured the management that the accreditation exercise was not intended to undermine the University’s achievements but to enhance the delivery of accounting education. “The exercise is aimed at strengthening the programme, improving the quality of graduates, and determining possible exemptions for our students in ICAN professional examinations,” he said. He described ICAN as a partner in progress with the University and appreciated the Management for the warm reception and conducive environment provided for the accreditation exercise.
Other members of the ICAN accreditation team included Dr. Olushola Igbekoyi, Dr. Owoola Falayi, and Mrs. Stella Amiolemen, renowned academics and seasoned chartered accountants, who engaged with faculty, reviewed facilities, and assessed compliance with ICAN’s standards for accounting education and training.
