The first event on the agenda of Achievers University’s much-anticipated convocation week was the press conference held on campus, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Omolola Irinoye. The conference, which brought together esteemed members of the press, distinguished university officials, and mass communication students, set a vibrant tone for the upcoming ceremonies.
The meeting commenced promptly with the singing of the National Anthem and the University’s anthem, adhering to proper protocol. Following this, a formal introduction of attendees was carried out by the Deputy Registrar, Alhaji Olagunju, who acknowledged the presence of top media outlets such as The Punch, Nigerian Vanguard, Adaba FM, The Nation, Sunshine Daily, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Tribune, and Achievers University’s Mass Communication students. The opening prayer was led by the Registrar, Revd. Canon Oladimeji.
Vice-Chancellor’s Address
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed all dignitaries, press representatives, and stakeholders, expressing her delight at the participation of leading media organizations and the university community. In her opening remarks, she extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates, parents, lecturers, and guardians for their collective efforts toward academic success.

- 71 First Class Honours

- 35 Third Class Honours

Special appreciation was extended to the National Universities Commission (NUC) for granting accreditations and to the Federal Government for supporting students’ education.
Honorary Awards
The Vice-Chancellor also announced this year’s distinguished recipients of honorary awards, honoring individuals who have made significant impacts in their respective fields:
- His Excellency, Mohammed Umar Bago (Executive Governor, Niger State): Recognized for his dedication to advancing agriculture and ensuring food security for Nigerians.
- Dr. Fidelis Akhagboso Ayebae (Managing Director, Fidson Healthcare Plc.): Honored for his resilience in driving pharmaceutical access during economic challenges and fostering collaboration between the education and manufacturing sectors.
- Oba Adedokun Abolarin (Orangun of Oke-Ila, Osun State): Celebrated for his selfless contributions to education, running a tuition-free boarding school for vulnerable children for over a decade.
“We are indeed proud to honor these exceptional individuals whose contributions continue to inspire positive change in society,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
Launch of the Yakubu Dogara Institute
In line with the university’s mission to advance legal and democratic education, the Vice-Chancellor officially announced the foundation laying and launching ceremony of the Yakubu Dogara Institute of Legal and Democratic Studies (YaDILDS). The event held on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
