Chants of “We are Achievers, Achievers we are!” filled the air as Achievers University celebrated the remarkable success of its students, who clinched the 3rd position at Adekunle Ajasin University’s 25th Convocation Ceremony Debate Competition. The event, held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the university’s Multipurpose Hall, featured eight universities debating the thought-provoking topic: “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of the Nigerian University System.”
Representing Achievers University were Miss Okewoye Unique Adeola, a 500-level Nursing student serving as the Chief Speaker, and Miss Akintewe Esther Oluwaseyi, a 300-level Political Science student, as the Supporting Speaker. Their exceptional performances not only earned them the coveted position but also showcased the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and leadership development.
“Victory called, and we answered!” the students declared. In preparation for the competition, both students underwent two weeks of intense training, a testament to their dedication and hard work. Their efforts exemplify Achievers University’s focus on nurturing excellence in public speaking, critical thinking, and stage management.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Omolola Irinoye, lauded the students’ achievement and extended heartfelt congratulations to them and the entire university community. “We are immensely proud of your success. Thank you for showing the world the true meaning of ‘Achievers,’” she said. Professor Irinoye reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals who excel both academically and in life.
