
The Department of Electrical and Information Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Achievers University will host the 2026 World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, an event observed globally under the auspices of UNESCO.
The programme, themed “Careers in Engineering for a Sustainable Future,” aims to highlight the vital role engineers play in driving innovation, addressing global challenges, and advancing sustainable development.
World Engineering Day is internationally recognised as an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of engineers and engineering to modern society. It also serves as a platform to inspire students and young professionals to pursue careers in engineering and related fields that support sustainable economic growth, environmental protection, and technological advancement.
The event will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the University Auditorium.
The programme will feature discussions on emerging opportunities in engineering, the relevance of technological innovation in solving contemporary societal problems, and the importance of equipping future engineers with the knowledge and skills required to support sustainable development goals.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Oyesoji Aremu, will serve as the Chief Host for the event. The programme will be hosted by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, A. S. Onawumi, while Babatunde S. Emmanuel, Acting Head of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, will serve as the Convener.
Members of the University community, students, and stakeholders in the engineering profession are invited to participate in this important global celebration of engineering and its role in building a sustainable future.
