COSMAS Public Lecture: Akinterinwa Faults Nigeria’s Stand On Russo-Ukrainian War

A former Director General, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Bola Akinterinwa has faulted Nigeria’s position in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

Akinterinwa spoke at the second public lecture of the College of Social and Management Sciences (CoSMaS), Achievers University, Owo.

The lecture was titled, “Limitations of the aficionados of diplomacy in Russo-Ukrainian conflict: Implications for Nigeria’s non-alignment policy in International Politics.”

Professor Akinterinwa said Nigeria’s support for the US against its relationship with Russia is not a tactical diplomatic decision.

He said the country has not benefited meaningfully from America.

On insecurity, Professor Akinterinwa said the current situation in Nigeria has reached a level Nigerians may have to fight their attackers back.

The Vice Chancellor, Achievers University, Owo, Professor Samuel Aje said the war between Russia and Ukraine has shown that Nigeria must stop its dependence on import and look inward.
