The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Professor Omolola Irinoye, has admonished all staff of the University to be the best in whatever they are doing and in every situation they find themselves.
She said this recently at an event by the Registry to send off Adefemi Oyedipe, Deputy Registrar and staff of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) who completed his one-year sabbatical in the University in March 31, 2023. According to the Professor of Community-Public Health Nursing who was a Special Guest at the event, “you have a purpose of being where you are; whatever you find yourself doing, do it well.”
Before her speech, Rev. Canon Bayode Oladimeji, the University Registrar, had lauded the contributions of Oyedipe to the Registry, especially the Personnel Unit, and his outstanding inter-personal skills, which endeared him to the staff in the Unit. He said, during the period of his sabbatical, he added value to the Registry, and “we’ll miss him”.
Some members of the Unit – Oluwole Olufawoye, Principal Assistant Registrar, Personnel; Dr. Alaba Ajekiigbe, Senior Assistant Registrar; Temidayo Bayo-Afolabi, Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies; and Deborah Olayinka, Confidential Secretary, College of Engineering and Technology – as well as Dr. Akintade Akinsumade of the Department of Mathematical Sciences all recalled the different ways University administrator par excellence had touched their lives and had words of appreciation for the Sociologist and alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. They all wished him success in his future endeavours.
The Registry presented a “Special Award in recognition and appreciation” of his laudable contributions. The Ilisan, Ogun State-born prince also received various gifts from the Registry, sections in the Registry and some staff.
In his vote of thanks, Oyedipe thanked the University for the opportunity given him to hone and broaden his administrative skills as well build bonds of friendship. While stressing that he saw himself as “part of Achievers University”, he said, “Anything you want me to do (for the University), call on me”.
